How to Personalise a Racing Shirt With Your Name and Number

A racing shirt with your own name and number feels different from one that carries a famous driver's. It turns a fan shirt into your shirt: the one you wear to the track, to a sim racing league night, or to watch the race with friends. This guide covers everything we get asked about personalisation at Kozmozcyber: what you can change, how much it costs, how to choose a name and number that print well, and how long it takes to arrive.

Quick answer: open any product marked Personalized, switch the option from No Custom to Custom, type your name and number, check the preview, then add to cart. Most custom fields cost $1.45 to $2.50, and the shirt arrives in about 12 to 15 business days.

Which products can be personalised?

Around 320 designs in our catalogue have a custom option. Most are tops built for race days and colder weekends:

  • Racing polo shirts and V-neck polos, the largest group by far.
  • Quarter-zip jerseys and quarter-zip sherpa pullovers for autumn and winter events.
  • Jerseys, long-sleeve shirts and Hawaiian shirts for summer meets.
  • Fleece zip hoodies, blanket hoodies and racing onesies for the sofa on a Sunday afternoon.
  • A small range of embroidered caps, where the name or number is stitched rather than printed.

Look for the Personalized badge on the product card. If a product does not show the No Custom / Custom choice, it is sold as designed.

What you can change, field by field

Each design has its own set of fields, placed where they make sense on that livery. These are the ones you will see most often:

FieldTypical limitTypical priceWhere it prints
Custom name15 to 30 characters, letters and numbers$1.45 to $1.95Where a driver name would sit, often on the back or chest
Custom numberUsually 2 digits; some designs accept up to 16 characters$1.45 to $1.95The race number position: chest, back or sleeve roundel
Personalized textUp to 20 characters$2.50A single free-text line, used on many polos
Custom year4 digits$1.95Next to the race or event text on heritage designs
Country or flag textUp to 30 characters$1.95 to $2.50Beside the name, like a driver's nationality

The exact fee shows next to each field on the product page, and the item total updates before you add to cart. Leave any field blank and the design keeps its default text, so you only pay for the fields you fill in.

How to personalise, step by step

  1. Pick the design. Start from a collection such as retro Grand Prix era or Le Mans 24 Hours, then open a product with the Personalized badge.
  2. Choose age group and size. Most polos come in adult S to 6XL, plus kid and youth sizes. Open the size guide and measure a shirt you already like rather than guessing.
  3. Switch to Custom. Under Please select the option, the default is No Custom. Change it to Custom and the text fields appear.
  4. Type your details. Enter the name and number exactly as you want them printed, including capital letters.
  5. Preview. Click Preview your design. Check spelling, spacing and whether a long name fits the space.
  6. Add to cart. Your custom text appears on the cart line so you can check it once more before checkout.

How to choose a name and number that print well

Names

  • Shorter reads bigger. A surname or nickname of 4 to 10 letters prints at a larger size than a full name, and reads from across a paddock.
  • Match the era. Classic drivers often wore just a surname or an initial and surname, such as "J. SMITH". It looks right on 1970s and 1980s designs.
  • Nicknames work. Track day groups and sim racing teams often use a handle instead of a real name.
  • Avoid special characters unless the field allows them. Most name fields accept letters and numbers only.

Numbers

  • Use a number with a story: your kart number, a birthday, the year you went to your first race, or the number you race with in your sim league.
  • Most number fields take 2 digits, the same as a real race number. Single digits look clean and bold.
  • If you want a famous driver's number on a tribute design, leave the field blank. Many designs already carry the period-correct number by default.

Ideas by occasion

  • Track day or club event: a polo with your own name and the number you run, so marshals and friends can spot you in the paddock.
  • Sim racing league: matching quarter-zips with each driver's name and car number for stream nights.
  • Birthday or Father's Day: the recipient's name and birth year on a heritage design from the era they grew up watching.
  • Family set: adult and kid sizes in the same livery, each with its own name. Kid and youth sizes are available on many polos.
  • Christmas: see our racing gift guide 2026 for ideas by budget.

Costs, delivery and multi-buy savings

  • Production and delivery: every item is printed to order. Allow 12 to 15 business days to the UK, EU and US.
  • Christmas: order by November 20 (Standard Shipping) or December 4 (Express Shipping) for the best chance of delivery before Christmas.
  • Shipping: free worldwide on orders over $100.
  • Multi-buy: 10% off 2 items, 15% off 3 items and 20% off 4 or more, applied automatically. A team order of four shirts saves 20%. Coupons do not combine with multi-buy discounts.

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. Skipping the preview. It takes ten seconds and catches most spelling errors.
  2. Typing a long full name into a small space. If the preview looks cramped, use a surname or initials.
  3. Guessing the size. Measure a shirt you own and compare it with the size chart on the product page.
  4. Ordering late for an event. Count 15 business days back from your race weekend or birthday.

FAQs

Contact support@kozmozcyber.com as soon as possible. Once production has started, custom text cannot be changed.

Can I return a personalised item?

Personalised items are made just for you. Damaged, defective or incorrect items can be reported within 30 days of delivery. See our Return & Refund Policy for details.

Is this official team kit?

No. Kozmozcyber designs are independent fan artwork. Names are used descriptively, and we are not affiliated with any team, driver or championship.

Textile Engineering & Cut-and-Sew Sublimation Standards Behind Kozmozcyber Apparel

When evaluating motorsport apparel in How to Personalise a Racing Shirt With Your Name and Number, the difference between a garment that lasts for five seasons and a souvenir shirt that warps after two washes comes down to three textile variables: fabric weight (GSM), yarn composition, and panel-by-panel dye-sublimation versus surface screen printing.

Mass-market promotional shirts typically use 140 to 160 GSM open-end cotton or thin polyester blanks decorated with plastisol ink or direct-to-film (DTF) heat transfers. Under hot grandstand sun, a large chest or back transfer acts like a plastic vapor barrier, trapping perspiration against your skin and eventually cracking along fold lines. By contrast, Kozmozcyber engineers every polo around a 230 GSM 95% superfine polyester / 5% spandex micro-pique knit, and every hoodie or sweatshirt around a 250 to 280 GSM brushed performance fleece.

Before a single seam is stitched, each front panel, back panel, sleeve, collar, and placket is printed flat on industrial calendar presses at 200°C (392°F). At that temperature, disperse dyes sublimate directly into the polymer chains of the yarn. Once cooled, the microscopic pores of the fabric remain completely open for moisture wicking and four-way stretch, while racing stripes and number roundels align cleanly across side seams and shoulders.

Step-by-Step Sizing, Personalisation & Multi-Buy Ordering Checklist

  1. Measure a Favorite Shirt Flat: Instead of wrapping a tape measure around your body, lay a polo or jacket you already own flat on a table. Measure straight across the chest 2.5 cm below the armpits (half-chest width) and from the highest shoulder point down to the bottom hem, then compare within our +/- 1 to 2.5 cm cut-and-sew tolerance.
  2. Verify Custom Name & Number Spelling: When ordering a personalised shirt in our custom racing shirt program, double-check capitalization and digits before checkout because custom panels enter dye-sublimation printing within 12 hours of order confirmation.
  3. Unlock Multi-Buy Group Tiers: Buying 2 items saves 5%, 3 items saves 10%, 4 items saves 15%, and 4+ items saves 20% automatically at checkout, with free standard shipping on all carts over $100.

Frequently Asked Questions: Fabric, Sizing & Care

Does 230 GSM and 250 GSM sublimated polyester shrink in the wash?

No. Because our polyester-spandex yarns are heat-stabilized at 200°C during dye-sublimation before cutting and sewing, the garment experiences virtually zero shrinkage when washed in cold water (30°C / 86°F) and air-dried.

Should I avoid liquid fabric softener on moisture-wicking racing polos?

Yes. Liquid fabric softeners and dryer sheets coat micro-pique fibers with a waxy film that blocks capillary moisture wicking and traps odors. Use a mild liquid detergent and hang your shirt to dry.

What should I do if my chest measurement sits between two sizes?

If your flat chest measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger size for a relaxed paddock drape or if you plan to wear a base layer underneath.

How long does cut-and-sew production and delivery take?

Every item is made to order in 6 to 8 business days for apparel (10 to 12 business days for custom footwear) (printing, laser cutting, sewing, and QC inspection) followed by 7 to 12 business days for tracked delivery to the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia.

Are Kozmozcyber garments official team or championship merchandise?

No. All products on Kozmozcyber.store are independent, custom fan-inspired tribute apparel and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any racing team, driver, automaker, or sanctioning body.
